Best Foundation for dehydrated skin? Make up Forever Water Blend Face&Body

Hello beauties,

We’ve been talking about foundations almost every Friday. Did you noticed that?

Joana found some good foundations but our skin is different and lately my dehydrated skin has been giving me some headaches!

If you have combo and dehydrated skin you’ll know what I’m talking about: dry patches!

Yes, since August that my skin took control over my skincare. I drink water everyday, I make exfoliations 1/2 per week, use hydration masks, moisturizers everyday…for some weeks I’ve been feeling some improvements in most areas (maybe because the balancing oil I’ve been using) but my T-zone is giving me a fight and sometimes still apresents some dry patches.

My first ‘solution’ was to use a B.B.-cream instead of a foundation. Unfortunately bb-creams doesn’t have a long and happy life on my skin. Maybe because this type of creams contains heavy moisturizers and my combo skin doesn’t love all kinds of moisturizes.

Result? After 2/3 hours my skin is shining like a 80’s disco ball.

On Second ‘solution’, I tried something I’m against (desperate times calls for desperate measures), I used a silicone primer (only in my T-zone). In the first hours the foundation stayed perfectly in place. But give it a few hours and you’ll see the foundation sliding off across the primer. Bah

Almost in despair, I’ve heard about a lightweight foundation that have 80% of water, so I decided to try it: The Water Blend by Makeup Forever!

You already know  that before I buy anything I always like to do a little research about it. This was what I found:

“This is formulated with 80 percent of water and enriched with pro-vitamin B5, water blend face&body foundation, hydrates and improves your skin’s elasticity”.

The reviews were so good that I went to a Sephora and asked for a sample. I like the result so I decided to buy the real size. After wearing it for some time, I think I can say that:

You will like it if…

… you don’t want a heavy foundation (the result is from sheer to buildable giving you a fresh, dewy glow);

… you have dehydrated skin like me;

… you have combo, normal, sensitive and dry skin (I almost write oily but every oily skin is a case);

… you like a natural finish (the non-makeup effect);

… you have breakouts (This foundation was the one that kept my sensitive skin clean);

… you practice sports (this is a long lasting foundation that doesn’t transfer through the day);

…and finally, it is available in 20 shades to match all skin tones. Mine is Y305! (the system of colors its a little bit complicated).

You will hate it if…

… you have a lot of imperfections

… you want a heavy coverage

Pssst…. This foundation is perfect for Summer but if you like a natural effect (or you have dry skin, specially in Winter) then you can use it all year.

How to use:

1. On a clean face, I start to apply a primer (I’m currently using a balancing oil as a primer)

2. I tried to apply this foundation with a sponge but it’s very liquid and the sponge absorbs almost everything so if you want a sheer effect use it but if you want some coverage use a brush, you will see a big difference.

3. Last but not least, use a good setting powder. (This is optional)

I almost forget to say that it can be used in your body too. If you have a party and some insecurity about a part of your body then this foundation can help you a little!

The package

It comes in a black box with the make up forever logo. The foundation comes in a heavy glass bottle.

The bottle brings 50ml instead of the 30ml that we are used to buy in a normal foundation. So you have to take that in consideration – It costs 42€ – $43.00

For now, I’m using it almost everyday and I’m loving it! Did you tried this foundation?
