Skinfood Black Sugar Honey Mask Wash Off

Hello beauties,

A few weeks ago I made a big mistake. I used a strong exfoliant and then instead of using a good mositurize or mask I  used a simple hydrating cream. I immediately acknowledge my mistake but I was on a rush and after a couple hours I started to feel a pulling sensation on my skin.

In the next day I felt the repercussions of my mistake. As soon as I put my foundation I saw that my skin was full of dry spots and the my forehead skin was ‘peeling’.

I have a lot of moisturizing masks but I felt that it was the time to try something new and see real results.

Skinfood is a brand that believes that healthy skin starts with food. They use vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in all of their products. They also use eco-friendly and sustainable growing methods. I admit that I have a few Skinfood products and I love them all. One of our firt posts was about the Philipins Coconut Hydrating.

Today we are going to talk about the Black Sugar Mask Wash Off. I thought that this was the perfect time to try this mask and see why I heard so much about it.

‘A skin softening exfoliating mask that contains Brown sugar and moisturizinf honey to soft glowing skin.’

The packaging is very cute. It’s a plastic pote, very resistant and appelative. It’s all about the honey theme.

That’s the tricky part. This mask divides in two phases and you need to mixe them well before using it. In the directions, they advise to shake it before use it but for my experience that doesn’t work. I use a spatula to mixe well the product.

I like to massage the product on damp skin for one minute (no more, one minute is more than enough) and then I leave it for 5 minutes. I advise you to avoid the eye and mouth areas. If you feel that the exfoliation is too rush to your skin, you can add a little bit of water and then massage it. I don’t feel that but you may have your skin more sensitive than mine. After the time, rise it with lukewarm water.

Final thoughts

My biggest fear was that this would cause me breakouts or made my skin oilier. I read some reviews about this mask and some were scary. But I already used this product more than three times and so far so good. Zero breakouts. On the contrary, I had some pimples that disappeared after I started using this mask. I don’t feel my skin oilier but I only leave it on my face for 5 minutes instead of the 15 minutes they recommend. Because this mask has honey, I’m afraid that if I leave this on my skin for more than 10 minutes it would turn my skin oilier. As you may know by now I have combination/slighly dehydrated skin and 5 minutes with this mask is more than enough. When I wash it, I feel my skin soft and smoother. The dead skin dissapears and I noticed an improvement on my skin texture.

If you have dry skin you can leave it for the full time but if you have oily skin maybe you can try and use it as only an exfoliatior and not has a mask (massage the product and wash immediately).

I normally use it once or twice a week but no more than that.

Have tou tried this mask? What do you think? Did you felt breakouts or oilier skin? Let me know in the comments.

    1. I was very scary to try this mask because it has honey and I was afraid that my combo skin turned more oily! But I love it! I really do. My dry patches are less visible and the skin texture is better too. I have other masks by skinfood and in future I will try them. I hope that in the end I could help you choosing the best for you! xx

      1. I noticed a big difference in my skin texture after using this mask. The only precausion is the time you stay with the mask on your face. For my combo skin 5minutes are enough! If you found a mask that is great for your skin, stay with it! 🙂
