[KLAIRS] Midnight Blue Calming Cream

Hello beauties,

Today we are going to talk about the Midnight Blue Calming Cream by Klairs. I’ve been using this product for two weeks but after a few days of use, I felt I was capable of doing this review. Because, spoiler alert, I love it!

Klairs was funded in 2009 and their first concern is researching different ingredients and raw materials for the best skincare for sensitive skin. They don’t use harsh ingredients and they never tested on animals. I love their respect for the beauty, using an environmental philosophy and their values regarding the earth.

The products are very simple, with no colorants, no alcohol, no parabens and no artificial fragrances/ fragrance-free.

The Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a gentle cream that is specifically meant to target and calm sensitive skin. The star ingredient of this formula that gives the beautiful signature blue color is an ingredient called Guaiazulene, a natural component extracted from chamomile oil (if you don’t know, chamomile oil have naturally a deep purple color) and chamomile is famous for his calming properties. It’s also formulated with Centella Asiatica – another well-known ingredient that combats skin irritation and soothes and calms redness.

This cream benefits sensitive skin and oily acne prone skin. I have combination skin with occasional breakouts and I love this cream. This cream was such a lifesaver after the Rice mask off fiasco that made my skin freak out. I had so many breakouts and I’m still dealing with the remains of that disaster (forehead and chin still sensitive). But this cream really helped my skin.

The package is very simple but beautiful – a black card box, a very pretty plastic spatula (points to klairs). The product comes in a small container (30mL) which usually is the size of an eye cream but this is not something that you put on in the morning or in the evening to hydrate the skin, but rather this is a product that you use to specifically target a specific area. It also spreads very easily so you can cover a large area with just a little bit of product.

It’s interesting because, on the website of this product, you can read that this cream is really good for:

  • Eczema;
  • Allergic reactions to a product or to the weather;
  • Post-facial extractions;
  • After a really bad sunburn;
  • After a laser treatment (or any intensive skin treatment);
  • Post shaving (yes, ladies. We all have some unwanted facial hair).

Basically, this is good to calm and soothe the skin after anything that puts your skin under stress. I definitely can see how this would be amazing in those kinds of situations because it’s really hydrating without feeling heavy or sticky on the skin.

How to use

It’s intended to use at night (as the name says) because if you use it at night, it gives enough time for the cream to soothe and speed the recovery of the skin and create a protective layer. So if you use makeup in the morning you still have a layer between your skin and the makeup.

I use it on my dry patches and in my breakouts. I always feel a big difference.

Day 1- nasty pimple on my chin
Day 1- one hour after apllying the product
Day 3

Final thoughts

As I said, this product is not marketed as your daily everyday cream but as a target spot treatment, but you can use it all over your face (I did that during two days). I was full of breakouts and I loved how this soothed and helped my skin recovery. I also love the texture on my skin, how well absorbs and how it makes my skin feel. I’m always afraid that a certain product makes my skin oilier.

Skincare are one of my pickiest categories when it comes to beauty concerns, I have a really hard time finding cream textures and finishes that work with my skin type but this one absorbs and feels amazing without leaving my skin oilier or dry.

For me, this is one of those creams that are worthy to have on your beauty collection because you can reach for it when you want something very gentle or when your skin freaks out (we all been there). I can see why it was so talked when it came out and why this won so many awards. It’s kinda perfect.
