I feel that every time I read the words ‘Honest Opinion’ people are going to talk bad about a brand. Can you relate to this?
But this post is definitely not to do that. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a brand that was launched last year and the excitement for the release was one hundred percent crazy! Everyone talked about it on the internet, some people loved the products and others not so much.
“Fenty Beauty was created for everyone: For women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races. I wanted everyone to feel included. That’s the real reason i made this line.” (Rihanna)
Honestly, the products never called my attention at that time and I don’t know why. Maybe because I never saw them in person and never tried any.
A few months ago I received the Gloss Bomb and I turned a fan of the product. It’s the perfect gloss for everyone’s tone. I use it a lot, it’s my favorite gloss for sure.
Last Friday was the launch of the Fenty Beauty in Portugal Sephora’s and let me tell you, it was a crazy day. The only thing that was missing at Sephora was a fight (I believe it probably happened).
But as I said in the beginning, the collection never caught my eye but even so, I went to a Sephora store and checked the products that came to Portugal (not all but a good amount of them) and I was immediately in love.
The product’s anesthetic is very minimalist (a lot like KKW) but very pretty and classic. I really like how the products were made thinking about the people that need retouches during the day and carry the products in the purse. Every product is perfect to come with us for work (well, maybe not the primer or the foundation because they are in a glass bottle).
The sticks and the portable brushes have magnets that are perfect to attach, making it simple and practical to carry.
My eyes were immediate to the KILLAWATT FOIL Highlights ($31-$36). I like Becca’s highlights but I still didn’t find the perfect shade for me, so I was in need of a good highlighter. But with so many, it’s easy to lose our head and make something crazy (like buy three of them).
I did control myself and only bought one (and Joana bought another), and I’m happy with my purchase because I truly feel that it’s the perfect highlight for my skin tone and the finish is Beautiful!
Then we have Stixs ($24), you can choose between a lot of shades for different purposes (but in the end you can use the same for different things): blush, contour, highlight and conceal. Joana bought the shade Bamboo, which is perfect to conceal the under eyes!
PRO FILT’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34)! The thing that makes us crazy because we all wish to have a perfect skin. Well, for a brand with less than one year, Fenty has 40 shades available of the Soft Matte Foundation.
So many shades can make you a little indecisive if choosing the product online. My advice: go to a store and try the foundation on you!
For example, Joana loves this foundation. She bought the shade 240 and it’s perfect on her skin. She has normal to dry skin and it was a surprise, how this foundation sits on her skin and how gorgeous it stays for a lot of hours.
I didn’t like it on my combo/oily skin (Surprise!) which in theory should be the perfect skin to this foundation. I tried the shade 170 and although it was the perfect match to my skin tone, after a couple of hours, it started to break. My nose lost all the foundation after two hours. Overall I didn’t like the mask effect it gave to my skin and the fact that I could see the product on my pores.
The PRO FILT’R Primer is a shine-stopping, pore-diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear with an instant retouch effect. My advice, always hydrate your skin first with a moisturer.
Brushes and Tools. Between the portable ones and the normal size, you have a lot to choose. I bought the number 130 ($25) that attaches magnetically to the Invisibble compact. In my opinion, this brush is a little expensive for the size. It does the job but I don’t think that’s necessary unless you really want a brush to carry on the bag.
It’s also available the Precision Makeup Sponge ($16). I didn’t try it on my skin but I did feel it on my hand and it looks a lot like a notmal beauty blender.
I did like the Highlight Brush ($32) because it has the form of a shark teeth and looks so beautiful. I didn’t buy it but I’m considering it.
The INVISIMATTE BLOTTING Powder ($32) to me is the star of this collection. Well packaged and efficient, this powder can be a great allied to a combo/oily skin but also normal and even dry skin. This is not just a mattifying powder (although you can use it for this during the day on specific spots), but a powder that should be used as the last step to smooth the skin and blur everything. I can see a big difference using this as my last step (I used it with different foundations and it’s been working with them all).
Remember to press the powder and do not swipe. Unfortunately after a couple of uses, the foundation that remains in the brush messes the powder!
For last but not least the lipsticks! oh, the MATTEMOISELLE ($18) lipsticks… I’m torn about them because some have crazy colors that I will never use but a few have decent colors that look beautiful on every skin tone.
To celebrate one year of the release brand, Fenty beauty launched two glittery products: a new Gloss Bomb Luminizer ($18) and the Diamond Bomb ($38). I felt tempted to buy the new Gloss bomb because I truly love the old one but in the end, I didn’t (maybe in my next trip to Sephora).
