The warm weather is here to stay and we all want a skin that lasts the whole day and night. I think is safe to say that nobody wants the foundation to crack or melt and for that not to happen, I’m going to share with you some tricks that I use everyday.
Some you probably know but hopefully some can be new to you! Let me know in the comments what are your tricks.
1. FOUNDATION TYPE
This is the most basic of the tricks – the type of product influences the durability of the makeup! The secret is to always chose a foundation that is suitable for your skin type and that is long lasting.
When I want a long last makeup look I know that I have to use a primer. In addition to increasing the durability, it will also help keep makeup in place longer, requiring less touch-ups. If you have dry skin go for a hydrating primer but if you have oily/combo skin use and abuse on a matifying primer.
It is also important the use of an eye primer, if you never tried one, believe me when I say that it makes a lot of difference in the eye makeup.
3. HYDRATED SKIN
We say this a lot, a dehydrated skin does not hold any makeup. You can use the best brands that exist but if you skin is not hydrated, it will do you no good. You will notice that the foundation cracks or doesn’t look smooth and any setting powder will make everything worse.
Treat your skin daily with a good dose of moisturizers and make a mask at least once a week. Before applying makeup clean your skin with a cleanser, a toner and apply a moisturizer and then start the makeup process.
4. SETTING POWDER
Some people trend to run away from powders because they think this product doesn’t provide a natural look but they are wrong. The secret is to apply on strategic points, where you know that your skin is more likely to be oily during the day and then spread the rest of your face, lightly!
5. THERMAL WATERS / SETTING SPRAYS
These two can be your best friends when it comes to durability of makeup, go ahead and drench your skin with them. I like to use the thermal water before foundation when I feel that my skin needs a boost, and during the day to refresh my skin. While the setting spray is best to be used as the last step of makeup.
6. THE POWER OF A DAMP SPONGE
If you normally follow our blog, you may have noticed that I always apply foundation with a brush. It’s by far my favorite way to apply foundation, but I also notice a big difference when after that I use a damp sponge. It leaves the skin more even and increases the durability.
