The key to glowing skin: Vitamin C Serums

Hello beauties,

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that gives the skin a glow, due to the adjustment of melanin production. It can thus reduce the development of dark spots and act as a natural ‘brightener’. It is the ideal molecule to use if you want to delay the signs of aging! As an oxidant, Vitamin C protects the skin against the UV damages.

Where can it be found? In many foods, citrus fruits (orange) and also in parsley! Unfortunately, only a small part of the vitamin C that we consume has an impact on our skin. That is why we should use products that contain vitamin C.

What should you look for? L-ascorbic acid, or THD ascorbate – are the two types of Vitamin C that you should look for in the ingredient lists.

Cares to take in consideration while using Vitamin C? These formulations should be used every day (according to the specifications of each brand), normally in the morning before heading out for the day, when the UV radiation is in its highest. Vitamin C becomes less efficient when exposed to the light, so it is important to et it absorb well before going outside. You also should pay attention when adding other powerful active ingredients – such as AHA’s, Retinol’s (they can have similar effects). For example, benzoyl peroxide can reduce the efficacy of vitamin C, so you should use one in the morning and the other in the evenings, or in different days.

Have you noticed that Vitamin C come in opaque containers? It’s because Vitamin C is sensitive to light and the air, becoming oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid, which is less efficient and stable.

Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite vitamin C serum! I would love to know and maybe try it to see if it can become one of my favorites too.
