Beauty Class: Things to know before applying a Matte Lipstick

Hello beauties,

If you are like me, you love matte lipsticks. But unfortunately this kind of lipsticks sometimes can be difficult to apply and some can cause dry lips.

We can always prepare the lips, using a moisturizing lip balm and let it sit for a few minutes before applying the matte product. But there are more tips to get the perfect matte lip look.

1. Hydrate your lips

Like I said before, use a lip balm before applying the matte lipstick. If you find your lips drier during the day you can apply a moisturizing lip balm on top of your lipstick.

2. Exfoliate, exfoliate…

Exfoliate your lips the night before or before applying the lipstick. If you don’t have a lip scrub you can always use a toothbrush (but be gentle) to get rid of dead skin.

3. Lip Liner? Our best friend!

I like to use a clean lip pencil to outline the lips and keep your lip color in place. You also can use a lip liner with a similar color to your lipstick.

4. The right formula!

Take into consideration that there is a sea of different matte lipsticks – some are drier than the others.

5. Use a brush

If the lipstick applicator is not the easier to use, then opt for a lip brush. They are perfect to apply the lipstick on the corner of the mouth.

6. Concealer? yes, please!

Don’t worry if your lipstick is not even. Use a little of concealer and a lip brush and clean the line on your lips.

7. Don’t be scare

Use the color that suits you the most but if you are feeling bold don’t be scare to use a bold color.
