4 Clothes I regret buying – Rita’s edition

Hello beauties,

I buy a lot of clothes. Every month I think, “I don’t need more clothes”, but then I see a look on Instagram or receive a newsletter from a clothing brand, and I immediately start to think that I need another pair of something slightly different from what I have. Am I the only one?

I hope not.

I blame the beautiful Instagrammers that post gorgeous looks, mainly from Zara. It’s my guilty pleasure, and I follow more than I should! I also blame sales!

Because of this, I’ve been accumulating a few pieces. In theory, I should love these clothes, but when I try them, I realize that after all, I don’t like them so much.

The good news is that lately, I have resisted and have only bought key pieces, such as the ones we show you in the post about key pieces to create a wardrobe.

These pieces that I will show you today, are on my wardrobe since last year and are surprisingly pieces with neutral colors that in theory are easily conjugable. But I don’t use them. Either because they don’t fit my style, lack practicality, or because I don’t like to see myself with them.

I decided to show you four pieces, but I have one or two more that I will show you in another post. Today was my turn (Rita), and in the future, Joana will show you some of her pieces because this is a common problem. You are not alone, beauties.

Zara dress

Okay, so this dress is not the worst piece I have. Far from it. I even like to see myself with it, although I only used it once. Why did I add it to this list? It’s too short, too tight and I don’t know when to use it. I’ll explain. If I wear it in summer, since it’s tight and elastic denim, I end up sweating for every pore. If I wear it in winter, I’m cold. So I have an acceptable week to wear this dress during the year, which will be in a spring week where it is not too hot or too cold. The problem is that with weather changes due to global warming, spring is almost inexistent.

Primark ‘leather’ pants

These pants were love at first sight. And despite proclaiming the thoughtful purchases, I must say that this was an impulsive purchase. The truth is that I only enter a Primark store twice a year, and the last time I entered one, I saw these pants on the mannequin, and I liked them. I ran to buy them because online purchases at Primark don’t exist in Portugal (I don’t know what it’s like in your country).

When I got home, I noticed, that I had bought the wrong size, but after all, I even liked to see myself with them. But since then I haven’t found a way to use them that I like and say Wow!

I’m thinking of writing a post dedicated to leather pants, using these pants as an example, and checking ways to use them. See different styles and which one best suits you. Is it something you were interested in?

Stradivarius leggings

I’ve already talked about these pants/leggings here on the blog. The truth is that I’ve found a way to use them, but only one way. This is why we talk about the importance of buying pieces and think immediately about what we have in our wardrobe that goes with it. We never should buy a piece, and think that later we can find something that goes with it. It’s one of those pieces that it didn’t live in my wardrobe, wouldn’t hurt either. After almost two years, I still think that these leggings look very nice on and are very comfortable. But, I could live well without them.

Another Zara dress

Once again, we have an impulsive purchase. I saw the dress online and even thought of some looks I could create with it. I like the fact that it looks like a suit, and I thought “wow great piece to take to work that can substitute a suit in summer”. Problem? I wore it in summer and sweat like a pig. So I thought ‘it’s going to look gorgeous in winter with something underneath. The problem is that I can´t find anything good enough to use with it. And you may think I’m crazy because it’s a black dress, just use a white shirt underneath! Looks can deceive! This dress is a nightmare ahahah

It doesn’t work! Why? The collar is very thick, and it gets strange with a shirt underneath! You can’t imagine how many blouses and shirts I’ve tried with this dress, but I haven’t given it up yet. It won’t be more stubborn than me! I’ll find a way to use it! Lately, I’ve been thinking about a tulle shirt, what do you think?

  1. It’s so funny how we convince ourselves to buy clothes and then a yest later we regret it so much. The black dress looks amazing, but when I read why it was a mistake, I totally understood and I know how it is trying your whole wardrobe to fit an item that it will never work 😁

    1. Exactly! I haven’t given up on the black dress yet! I’m sure I’ll find a way to use it! I’m thinking of wearing a tulle blouse underneath! What do you think? I accept all the help you can give me
