Who doesn’t want a flawless look that lasts throughout the day? This is where skin preparation comes in. This will directly impact the look of foundation, concealer, and all the other products on the skin.
First step
A good skincare routine! Never start your makeup with dehydrated or dirty skin. The foundation will enhance the texture and something like a cracked appearance will appear. Follow the steps – cleanse, moisturize, and protect the skin – and a better skin look will be guaranteed.
Second step
Prepare the skin with a primer. We already talked about the importance of a good primer and there are several options with different textures and finishes according to your skin type and the result you want. The good news is that you can choose a primer with extra functions, like concealing fine lines, brightening, reducing redness, and my favorite, closing pores. The primer will make the skin texture more uniform and more prepared to receive the foundation.
Third step
Always use clean brushes! Remember that dirty brushes accumulate bacteria and thus can compromise skin heath and change the result of products on the skin.
Extra step and a tip
Last year we showed you that applying a little liquid (or even stick) highlighter before foundation can leave the skin with an extra glow, bringing a more natural look. You just need the product totally by dabbing lightly on certain areas, such as temples, cupid’s bow, below the eyebrows and on the tip of the nose, then apply the foundation!
